Takeaway Indian/Chinese Night and Cards Night.

We decided after a hard days paddling...it was a good night for a takeaway .....some had Indian and some Chinese.

While we were waiting for the above to cook we went for a J2O in the nearby Ship Inn and the girls taught each other card games they knew.....Chase the Ace, Cheater and Spit. It was all very friendly ( Jenny and Beth) and we met the competitive sides of others ( Kayleigh and Lydz) for whom speed racing at Spit became a serious matter!

As I post, takeaway has been eaten and the scary stalker seagull is being kept away by the Ipod playing Katie Perry 'California Girls' again and again and again while the girls scream 'CHEATER!!!! loads having found a pack of cards in the house and continuing with Cards Night at home.

Day 4 - A very High Tide

Tonight was the highest ever high tide we have ever seen at Looe. The river came right up to the very top of the Quay and in places spilled right over. It made paddling in the river possible as the water is usually to low to consider paddling.

Lydz Seagull Scaring

I showed Lydz the previous post and she happily announced...Kayleigh has a photo of me running after the Stalker Seagull. Oh goodie ....roll on borrowing Kaylieghs camera to post the proof. I don't know which is scarier...Lydz or the seagull.

Day 4 New Best Friend/Stalker

The girls have found a NEW BEST FRIEND ......more like a stalker.

There's this massive ...MASSIVE seagull that's taken up residence on the post right outside the door. These photos were taken from inside the house and it seems totally resistant to people attempting to move him on.

He's really bold...he just sits there and stares

He even came in once while I was cooking tea and left the door open to keep the house cool and I had to chase him out.

Not to be beaten by a SEAGULL - Lydz has taken to leaping theatrically out of the front door like a ninja armed with a pair of flip flops chasing it away with a scream and a rapid volley of flip flop bashing together sounds.

The effect....?....well the seagull sort of lazily hops onto the the road only to return minutes later but there's a few passers-by think we are nuts!

Day 3 - Very Lazy Day!

We all seem to have had a really lazy day today - not even up until 11.00am ish! Then Girls off to the beach for a day lazing ( in 50 factor suncream at all times).

Jenny and Kayleigh beat the world record for length of time staying in the sea swimming -they were in there hours!

I did the shopping then explored some parts of Looe I have never ventured into before and found "Daisy's Cafe' tucked up on a hill and had a well earned cuppa and read the papers.

The girls have decided with the house being pretty well on the beach that it has to be a tradition they have supper - toast and jam - and cups of tea or hot chocolate on the beach - in their pyjamas. Although this does sound a little mad, remember they don't go anywhere without Kenilworth 2010 Leavers Hoodies on so they are pretty well covered up anyway.



Last night they had this mad plan to have a photo on the banjo pier all in their hoodies showing their names - and this done without my assistance so they put their camera on a bench with time delay on and took this picture....I'm pretty impressed.


They are watching DVDs after a Pizza tea chilling out until supper on the beach time. They seem to be addicted to Kettle Chips - but in a token gesture to healthy eating are consuming grapes in abundance too.

All is well, everyone seems happy and we have had no disasters of any kind!

Day 2 Busy Day - Swimming in the Sea

It was decided ...I can't remember by who...that it was time to get into the sea. The plan was to start somewhere in the middle of the beach and run into the sea...right as far as could run. That was the plan anyway

The sea was very very cold so the getting under the water took a little longer than planned.

Finally being brave enough to get in - and the water was FREEZING! and then swim and play with an inflatable.

Of course ..I would have gone it the water but someone had to be on dry land to take the photos!

Day 2 Busy Day Raft Race

The Corwall 2010 girls got a seat on the edge of the Banjo Pier walkway and waited for the Raft Race to begin

The race started and the rafts raced from the beach, around the Banjo Pier and down the river.
There was a big crowd cheering them on...

The winning raft was built from blue oil barrels and they were a long way ahead of the losers

This raft came in second but it did have the largest crew and they were from Looe Lifeboat station so ought to be good on water

This raft had seats attached and they definately looked the best - although not the fastest

This raft was almost last and in danger of sinking!

This boat came in last of all....going very slowly to cheers from the crowd ( it got stuck at the beach and had to be pushed by willing children to get going at all - the aptly named Yellow Submarine!

All the rafts were followed by the Lifeboat Crew up the river
